From Washington, D.C. area:
South toward Richmond on I95
I295 around Richmond toward points south
East on I64 past Williamsburg to Hampton
Take I664 through the new tunnel across James River/Hampton Roads
I664 ends at I64 and I 264 east, stay on I64
Take rt. 168 (bypass) exit before Great Bridge This now leads to a short toll road / expressway ($2.00 for a car)
Follow signs 0n 168 which becomes 158 in North Carolina
At Kitty Hawk, continue south on rt. 12 (don't turn toward the beach on the old beach road -- just go straight ahead..)
At Nags Head, look for sign to Hatteras (left turn at light). This is rt. 12 south to Hatteras Island. You will drive over the Oregon Inlet bridge and drive all the way to Hatteras Village.

In the map, south is to the top of the map, you will come to
Hatteras Village from the bottom of the map.

There are a number of alternate routes:
I95 to I295 to rt. 460 near Petersburg going to Suffolk to I64 and Great Bridge
Rt. 17 south of Portsmouth going towards Elizabeth City, follow the signs to rt. 158 and Nags Head

As you approach Hatteras village, you will pass the Sea Gull motel and the General Billy Mitchell motel on the left. You have a quarter mile to go. The Privasea beach house is at 57229 Hatteras Escape Rd, which is on the left side a few hundred yards beyond the Texaco station (Pelican's Roost) which is on the right. Just beyond the Hatteras Escape Rd. is a real estate / rental office on the right, then Rocco's Pizza.

The lane is sandy. The beach house is the fourth from the beach on the left.
